NEWTON HAMILTON

PT 187

The stretch of mainline from Mt Union to Ryde is relatively isolated due to its route along the north side of the Juniata River. The one exception, of course, is the village of Newton Hamilton. Unfortunately, there really isn't a good view of the mainline since the right-of-way was built fairly high above the village. Trains will call the PT 186 and PT 188 signals that are located in the area. Most importantly, Newton Hamilton features a defect detector at PT 186.6 which is a good heads-up for those located at Mt Union or Ryde.
