Pattenburg and Musconetcong Tunnel mark the top of the grade in New Jersey. All locations in this area are not publicly accessible.

CP 62, formerly CP Pattenburg, marks the east end of the "short" controlled siding between CP 62 and CP 64. Just east of CP 62 the ruling grade for westbounds, a three-quarter mile stretch of 1.17%, begins. The short siding is another frequent location for meets and runarounds.

CP 64 was installed by the railroad just before the Conrail split as part of a project to clear the tunnel for double-stack trains. Originally double-track, a contractor single-tracked the tunnel to take advantage of the taller clearances available at the center of the bore. CP 64 technically contains all of Musconetcong Tunnel between the home signals, as the short 1.5 mile siding east of the tunnel ends at the east portal, and the longer 2.6 mile siding west of the tunnel begins at the west portal and continues to CP 67.
