Three Bridges

LE 48.4

The next point of interest is the town of Three Bridges and the interchange with shortline Black River & Western. BRW is a weekday, as-needed, operation and sometimes runs on weekends. NS Allentown-based local H76 runs to and from Manville 3 days per week and generally works the BRW interhcnage in the mid-day hours. From Higginsville Road, head south and follow Three Bridges Road to the right until the T-intersection with CR 613/Main Street. Bear right at the intersection; first you will cross the BRW tracks (former Central Railroad of New Jersey Neshanic Branch) and then the Norfolk Southern mainline. The BRW interchange itself is at MP LE 48.4, approximately one-quarter mile east of the Main Street grade crossing.

Once you cross the Lehigh Line, make the first left onto Railroad Avenue and follow to the intersection with Route 202. Take a left to access Route 202 South, then your first right to continue on Railroad Avenue to follow the mainline west. Railroad Avenue will end at the intersection with River Avenue, take a left, and follow River Avenue to the intersection with Rockafellow Mills Road. Bear left onto Rockafellow Mills Road, and then take the first right on River Road. Incidentally, one of the scenic highlights of the BRW is its bridge over the Raritan River, visible to your right before you cross the BRW line toward Flemington and Ringoes.

1) NS 24V eastbound through Three Bridges.
2) NS 214 eastbound with fall color east of the crossing in Three Bridges.
3) NS 11J westbound past the BRW interchange.
