Sightings Header

Saturday March 15, 2008
This morning started with the hopes of NS 214 having an ex-SP AC4400 leader. Unfortunately the train collided with a tractor trailer in North Carolina causing enough damage to the lead unit to warrant NS removing the entire consist. Witness NS 214 with three NS C40-9Ws rolling through CP-88. Third out was the OLS 9250.

Less than ten minutes later, 21M showed up. At the time of the second photo, I was basically playing around with creativity. Little did I know trespassing would shortly become the theme of the day.

No Trespassing

It was a little bit of a wait until 19G arrived with 147 cars, all for Allentown. Somebody should really tell those geese that they are trespassing. H76 and 36G departed Allentown before 11J came and tied down on the layoff around noon. This is where trespassing really comes on strong. It amazes me at the intelligence levels of some people. Norfolk Southern has clearly posted "NO TRESPASSING" signs all along the River Yard, yet these two brilliant souls feel they have the right to disregard them.

I mean if you are going to trespass first, do not make it so incredibly obvious. Second, who trespasses to get pictures of autoracks? At least make it something incredibly rare if you are going to risk getting fined and/or arrested. I think this guy finally realized he was doing something wrong when I had my camera pointed in his direction and was repeatedly taking pictures. Witness the culprit fleeing the scene.
