Sightings Header

Saturday April 26, 2008
Saturday morning started off bright and early with a walk down to the tracks well before sunrise. A few trains had passed before the sun even began to rise. Unfortunately it was behind the clouds because what a sunrise it would have been. The first shootable train of the day was NS 38Z (CP 256). This quartet of EMDs sounded absolutely phenomenal as the engineer throttled up.

After 38Z a local, H70, came west to the River Yard, picked up a few cars from the LVRB, and then headed for the big yard. With 13T holding at WK for 34A to clear CP-Allen, we headed over to CP-Ham to wait for the recrewed 13T to come in to Allentown. We shot 13T with CSX AC4400CW 510 trailing and immeadiately headed for CP-Burn to catch 21M coming out of the hole and W6Q waiting for him to clear. NS 21M had his usual trio of road units.

After he cleared the interlocking, the extra section of 36Q was given the light into the yard with a decent sized train. After he cleared the grade crossing we headed back to Bethlehem to await the arrival of NS 213 who was supposed to have a few Union Pacific units. The rumors held true and thus the shot below was made possible.
