Sightings Header

Friday May 22, 2009
This morning started off on the Reading Line in Bethlehem. The first train is NS 22V rolling past the FABS sidings and, hidden behind the first few cars, the old TV ramp lead. The first two cars behind the engines are hot metal cars for the Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation in the remnants of Bethlehem Steel. As 22V was going through Burn the Lehigh Line dispatcher told 211 that he was meeting one at Bethlehem. Looking eastbound I thought the backlighting would be nice for a westbound so I decided to sit tight for 211.

After 211 cleared Burn NS 212 dropping down to Bethlehem to run around 22V working the River Yard. I shot him coming through Bethlehem but was not happy with the result so I headed for Redington and the 82.8 dragger. With other things to do during the middle of the day I was away from the tracks for awhile. When I came back I headed to the canal park to wait for NS 35A to head west. He had a trio of NS C40-9Ws for power and a large train.

While 35A was finishing his double and the conductor was getting a ride ahead I headed for the Downyflake Lane overpass in Emmaus. On my way out there I heard NS 34M coming east. I shot both trains from the overpass and missed the meet by less than five minutes.
